RuTAG Smart Village Centres
Permanent technology hubs at Panchayat level, each serving 15–20 neighbouring villages with hands-on support and technology deployment sustained over several years.
What we found
- Rural technology interventions typically arrive as one-off training events and leave nothing behind.
- Villages had no permanent point of access to appropriate technology or the people who can deploy it.
What we did
- Established RSVCs under the RuTAGe mission at Panchayat level, co-located with Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samridhi Kendras.
- Each centre covers eight tracks: agriculture and waste management, renewable energy, water, sanitation and hygiene, livelihood and entrepreneurship, affordable housing, FinTech and AR/VR, assistive technology, and custom solutions.
- Deployed working technology on site — solar dryers, composting units, protected cultivation — rather than demonstrating it and removing it.
What is different now
- Five centres operating across Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Kerala.
- Each centre serving 15–20 surrounding villages with multi-year technology support.
