SWAVALAMBANE — Preparing Rural Women to Face Investors
A business growth programme that took 273 rural women entrepreneurs from a baseline survey through to pitching in front of investors and mentors.
What we found
- Rural women entrepreneurs had viable businesses but no route to mentorship or investment.
- Neither their businesses nor their pitches were legible to the investors who might back them.
What we did
- Shortlisted rural women entrepreneurs from a pool of applications for a customised cohort.
- Conducted a baseline survey to assess ground realities and the specific need of each of the 273 selected entrepreneurs.
- Delivered structured soft-skill training on selected segments.
- Ran cohort readiness training: helping enterprises prepare their pitch, sharpening it against specific pointers, and rehearsing delivery.
What is different now
- 273 women entrepreneurs prepared to present to investors and mentors.
- A repeatable cohort model for rural women's business growth, backed by IIM Bangalore.
